Globenomics: More Than Just Money

Episode 10: The Economics of Junior Hockey with the Poco Trailblazers

Milin Aujla & Michael Figge Season 1 Episode 10

In our tenth episode, Milin sits on a phone call with the principle owner of the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers Junior 'A' hockey team: Rob Toor.  Milin and Rob discuss the economic impact of bringing an expansion team to a city, and how it has impacted the "Poco" community thus far. They also speak about some of the things that lead to the creation of the team within the community, and the intangible effects that having a junior hockey team can have on a given town. We hope this episode helps those who aren't too familiar with hockey understand the business side behind the game. Stay tuned to learn more about junior hockey and the economics behind sports. Enjoy the episode!
